Definition of "High-Yield Corporate Bonds"

A type of corporate bond that are either not rated or have been given a rating below investment grade by one of the Rating Agencies. These bonds are given a low rating as the result of the a large amount of outstanding debt or financial problems. The return on these bonds are higher then investment grade bonds to reflect the higher risks.
