Definition of "Series EE Bonds"

A non-marketable U.S. government bond that is issued at a 50% discount from par. These interest bearing bonds were first issued in 1980 and range from $50 to $10,000 in denomination. Interest can be earned for up to 30 years and interest is exempt from state and local taxes, with no Federal tax until redemption.
